Driving directions:
Take the Highway 17 - Scotts Valley
- Mount
Hermon Road exit
( it only goes northwest towards Felton );
follow "Mount Hermon
Road" thought Scotts Valley to Felton;
turning right onto "Graham Hill
Road" which
merges
( about 100 yards curving right onto Highway 9 at Felton ) onto
Highway 9 north;
follow Highway 9 north to Boulder Creek;
in Boulder
Creek ( at famous Johnies market ), turn left onto "Big Basin Way"
(
Also Known As "Highway 236", it only goes northwest towards
Big
Basin Park and Boulder Creek Golf Country Club); follow "Big
Basin Way" to the 4th "Acorn Road" exit
( "Acorn Road"
touches "Big
Basin Way" four times, there is a green "800" sign attached
to
this exit's green "Acorn Road" sign, so that you can not miss this exit
);
turn on to "Acorn Road" ( it only goes into Forrest
Springs
redwoods at this exit )
about 100 yards, to turn right onto "Roble
Road"; house is first house on right.
Many Apple
employees own houses around Boulder Creek, to enjoy living in the
rewoods. Another route is to take "Sunnyvalle Saratoga Road"
(
AKA "Deanza Blvd" in Cupertino, AKA "Saratoga Los Gatos Road" ) , take
"Sunnyvalle Saratoga Road" south to an intersection, turning right onto
southwest "Highway 9" ( southwest "Highway 9" appears here on maps as
"Big Basin Way", street signs show this as "Congress Springs Road" ) ,
this intersection is the intersection of
"S. Sunnyvale Saratoga Road" - "Saratoga Ave" - and "Saratoga Los Gatos
Road", this intersection could use better
markings ; follow, stay on "Highway 9" to Johnies market in Boulder
Creek; then follow above to
house.
Of course you could come south on "Saratoga Ave" to
this
intersection, then driving straight through the intersection onto
"Highway 9" towards Boulder Creek.
Some people go to work to the
valley in the
morning using Highway 9 north and then come home south using
Bear Creek Road.
Public
transit: There is a "Highway 17 Express" service bus from San Jose area
to Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz. There is also bus
service from Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz that goes up
through Bolder Creek - Big Basin Way - to the Country Club
that has stops nearby on Big Basin Way ( Santa Cruz Metro "35A Santa
Cruz - Highway 9 - Boulder Creek - Country Club" .
Note
that there are automated ( search engine and GPS ) directions that go
by way of Highway 17 through Bear Creek Road ( Bear Creek
Road is
kind of curvey, if you do not know where you are going ) and eventually
somehow lead people to turn into the first Acorn road ( which
needlessly drives all the way through Forrest Springs redwoods the long
way ). Also some directions, when coming south towards
Boulder Creek from Cupertino, might lead some to turn off "Highway 9"
before getting to Boulder Creek ( "Big Basin Way" "236" circle through
Big Basin Park zigzag and rejoin "Highway
9" north of Boulder Creek ).
